This malleable iron reducing Socket Fig 246 A197 NPT M&F is manufactured in accordance with ASTM standards. It has female thread on one end and male thread on the other, used for reducing transition between pipes of different diameters with compact structure and easy connection. Made of high-quality black heart malleable iron with high-temperature annealing, it features good toughness, high strength and impact resistance. With high-precision threads for tight and reliable sealing, it is available in black, electro-galvanized or hot-dip galvanized finish. Corrosion-resistant and easy to install, it is widely used in water, gas, steam, fire protection and various low-pressure industrial fluid piping systems.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation

Inspect the reducing Socket Fig 246 A197 NPTM&F before installation to ensure no sand holes, cracks, deformation and intact threads
Clean iron chips, dust and debris at pipe ends to keep connecting surfaces clean
Wind PTFE tape clockwise or apply pipe thread sealant on male threads
After hand-tightening, use a pipe wrench to tighten evenly to avoid cracking due to excessive force
Pressure test after installation; put into use only after confirming no leakage and looseness

Maintenance

Regularly check joints for leakage, thread looseness and surface corrosion
