Installation and Maintenance

Installation Guide

  1. Clean male threads of two pipes and female threads of the reducing Socket Fig 240 BSPT, remove burrs, dust and impurities.
  2. Wrap PTFE tape or apply BS EN standard liquid sealant evenly on the male threads of the pipes.
  3. Screw the larger pipe into the larger female end of the Socket Fig 240 BSPT by hand until preliminarily tightened.
  4. Screw the smaller pipe into the smaller female end of the Socket Fig 240 BSPT by hand until preliminarily tightened.
  5. Tighten symmetrically with a wrench, torque meets BS EN standard requirements, avoid over-tightening to prevent cracking.
  6. After installation, conduct pipeline pressure test at 1.5 times working pressure according to BS EN standard to ensure no leakage.

Maintenance Tips

① Inspection Schedule: Visual inspection quarterly; monthly in corrosive environments, checking corrosion, deformation, thread damage and leakage.

② Cleaning Method: Wipe the surface with clean soft cloth; do not use sharp tools or strong acid/alkali solvents to damage threads and surface coating.

③ Replacement Cycle: Replace after 15–20 years of normal use or immediately if thread slipping, sealing failure or serious corrosion occurs.
