This malleable iron flatseat Union Fig 330 A197 NPT is manufactured to ASTM/ASME standards. It features a flat sealing gasket+split threaded nut design. Compared with tapered-seat Union Fig 330 A197 NPTs, the flat-seat structure offers more stable sealing performance under thermal cycling and frequent disassembly conditions. No welding is required for installation or removal, facilitating pipeline maintenance. Made of premium black heart malleable iron with high-temperature annealing, it has excellent toughness, impact resistance and is not prone to brittle fracture. With standard-compliant precision threads and dedicated flat gaskets, it ensures tight and reliable sealing. Available in black, electro-galvanized and hot-dip galvanized finishes, it is easy to install and widely applied in water, gas, steam, fire protection and various industrial low-pressure fluid piping systems, especially for equipment connections and test sections that need regular disassembly.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation

Inspect the three-piece Union Fig 330 A197 NPT(male end, female end, nut) and gasket upon unpacking to ensure no blowholes, cracks, thread damage, and that the gasket is free of aging and breakage
Clean iron chips and burrs on the male pipe threads to keep the connecting surfaces clean
Tighten the male and female ends to their respective pipe ends separately, and place the flat gasket between the two joint faces
Connect the two parts with the nut and tighten evenly to prevent gasket deflection and leakage caused by one-sided force
Conduct hydrostatic/pneumatic pressure testing after installation. Put into operation only after confirming no leakage and looseness

Maintenance

Regularly inspect joints for leakage, nut looseness and surface corrosion
For outdoor or humid environments, it is recommended to inspect once a year. Touch up anti-rust paint or re-galvanize if necessary
Replace the gasket immediately when it is aged, hardened or loses sealing performance. If cracks or deformation are found on the Union Fig 330 A197 NPTbody, stop using it immediately and replace the entire Union Fig 330 A197 NPT
