Fire Protection Valves: Can be directly connected to threaded gate valves, check valves, and alarm valves of corresponding size
1.Preparation: Inspect the fitting for any damage, cracks, or debris in both thread sizes. Clean threads if necessary. Verify both pipe sizes match the fitting’s inlet and outlet.
2.Apply Sealant: Apply an appropriate thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape or pipe joint compound) to the male pipe threads of both pipes. Wrap the tape in the direction of the threads (clockwise) .
3.Initial Assembly: Hand-thread the larger pipe into the larger port of the fitting until snug. Then hand-thread the smaller pipe into the smaller port.
4.Final Tightening: Use appropriate pipe wrenches to complete the tightening. Hold the fitting body with one wrench and turn each pipe with separate wrenches. Tighten to manufacturer’s recommended torque. Note: After tightening, do not force the fitting further, as this may cause cracking at the threads .
5.Alignment: Ensure the 90° direction is correctly oriented before final tightening. The reducing design is fixed, so plan the pipe run accordingly.
① Inspection Cycle: Conduct quarterly visual inspections, especially in fire protection systems. Check for signs of corrosion (especially at thread joints), leakage, physical damage (cracks, deformation), or buildup of debris .
② Cleaning Method: Keep the exterior clean to allow for easy inspection. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use sharp tools that could damage the galvanized protective layer.
③ Replacement Cycle: Replace immediately if any damage or leakage is found. In fire systems, evaluate the entire system after any major fire event. While malleable iron fittings are durable, the galvanized coating may degrade over time in corrosive environments.
Recommendation: Combined with GI series galvanized malleable iron fittings and fire sprinkler system, it can build an anti-rust, stable and integrated fire pipeline to improve service life and protection effect.
